Ruminations:
On A Cowgirl Riding Off Into The Sunset
[A Eulogy for Ms. Annette Rohde]

This image never fading;
Taken by the mental eye shutter:

--	It's that maverick you love.
--	Caught in silhouette
--	against the setting sun they're riding off into.

At such a distance,
there are no words that can be spoken - that can be heard...
At such a distance,
What matters is what is remembered,
...what we know in our hearts...and what we feel with each beat...

One last image: The cowgirl on her horse,
		  Waving her cowgirl hat,
		  Giving a Texan Goodbye.

And we – the beloved – frozen in the foreground -
Are the ones who know the reasons and whys
Behind that most meaningful of goodbyes...

* So, message received, dear maverick,
* Message received...

A Jessica Rose
(In remembrance of Jessica McClanahan
who passed away in Spring)

What is the beauty of a Jessica Rose;
What words can summon the impact of such a strong flower?
How can I come close to voicing a true reflection
of such a complex being as intricate as the Rose I hope to honor?

…

Our Rose sprouted blooming, from beginning early on,
And never did our Rose wither for all her livelong days,
With Roots stretched far, spread far throughout Earth,
And Petals like pink presents, wrapped permanent with promise.

…

Try as I ought, my words hold naught against that Rose’s part,
When one could find the Rose tall as the Sun, proud in the Meadow;
But Good-Golly, I’m okay - knowing that Rose is grander now,
Spread far throughout all Earth and saturating our thoughts.

The merit of remembrance

The Merit of Remembrance
(An Eulogy for Mr. “Johnny” Lanier)

Dearest love, I’m sorry to say goodbye
In such a way that has your heart in tatters,
If there was anyway I could ease your tears,
I’d ask that you love my memory strongest.

There’s no eternal space, there’s no infinite span,
That my spirit cannot cross when divined by memory,
There’s no forever ever, there’s no never then,
That can dim this Light that I’ve passed on.

Sweetest love, this might have been goodbye,
But I promise I haven’t truly gone anywhere,
Because the moment everyone said I departed,
Became the moment I forever remained at home.

Finally, I will say there’s no saying farewell
When remembrance resurrects who I am and what I meant,
And when you recall that twinkle in my eye,
You share it with the world to cherish and celebrate.
